Funded Kindergarden Program

Doncaster Early Learning Childcare and Kindergarten is committed to the highest quality standards of care and education within the guidelines of the “Victorian Early Years Learning and Development Framework”. The Victorian Framework sets the highest expectations for every child. The Victorian Framework recognises that every child will take a unique path to the five outcomes and that all children will require different levels of support.

It identifies five Early Years Learning and Development Outcomes for all children:

- Children have a strong sense of identity (identity)

- Children are connected with and contribute to their world (community)

- Children have a strong sense of wellbeing (wellbeing)

- Children are confident and involved learners (learning)

- Children are effective communicators (communication)

The Framework describes each of these Outcomes for children from birth to eight years, linking the learning outcomes from the Early Years Learning Framework for Australia to the Victorian Essential Learning Standards (VELS) Levels 1 and 2. The Outcomes provide a shared language for all early childhood professionals and families to use when planning for children’s learning and development.

The Victorian Framework identifies Practice Principles for Learning and Development, which describe the most effective ways for early childhood professionals to work together with children and families to facilitate learning and development for all children. Therefore, the centre places emphasis on establishing respectful and caring relationships with children and families to deliver effective learning and development.

Our practices are guided by a holistic approach to children’s development and this is reflected in our philosophy and programming. In accordance with early childhood practice and the Early Years Learning Framework this process begins with taking careful observations of each child; identifying and planning learning objectives; providing children with stimulating learning experiences and assessing and evaluating teaching and learning.

In this way, each child will build a comprehensive “Portfolio” which is a collection of their learning journey containing work samples, observations, and photos of the experiences your child participates in. Our interactions with children are an important way of discovering each child’s unique interests and assists us to further plan from the positive reflection of the child. Parents are welcome to view their children’s Portfolios at any time and are encouraged to contribute ideas and information about their child.
