ORIENTATION PROGRAM

When a child is offered a position at the centre a mutual time will be arranged to organise an orientation visit.

The orientation visits provide an opportunity for parents and early childhood professionals to meet and spend some time in the children’s room to observe the programs and routines.

The orientation program is designed to be relaxed and flexible giving the child and parent an opportunity to observe and participate in the new environment. During the orientation period the Team Leader will invite the parent to spend some time in the room and provide information on the following:

- A general overview of the programs, routines, environment and the staff in the children’s  room/s.

- The philosophy and aims of the program.

- Individual record keeping and portfolios

- An explanation of how the parent can be involved in the program and participate in their child’s development.

- Any questions relating to the child’s needs interests, routines, behaviour, sleep/rest patterns, special requirements, health, fears, dietary needs, culture, family values will be discussed with the parent or guardian.

- A background information form will be given to every parent to be completed and returned to the centre. This will be used to build on our understanding of your child.
